Are You Moving (September 1, 2018)

by Paula Randall, Nebraska Home Sales REALTOR®

“The world is so big and oh so round…”   When I was younger I thought the dream life would be to move every five years. There are so many places to see and people to meet.

In 2016, The Atlantic reported, U.S. residents move on average 11 times in their lives. You can say I’m above average. The first move I remember was at the age of 12. It was in the same city, but it was rural. I had my first relocation experience. There was only one school, so I didn’t have to change schools. The neighborhood was different and the people at church were different. Will I fit in and have friends?

Six years later, I found myself relocating to a new state, all by myself, no immediate family around me. Once again the question, will I fit in and have friends? The landscape was different, I could see forever, the color of green so vibrant, the air thick and much wetter than I had experienced before. I fell in love… with it all ….

Five children and seventeen years later, relocation number 7, I am not only responsible for how I adapt, but five children ranging from 15-5. Selecting a reliable Realtor®, finding a home, moving, getting involved to meet, hopefully, new friends and register for school were on my to do list. The children blossomed.

Two high school graduates and another six years, we found ourselves leaving this lovely little rural town. We moved to a larger area within the same state, with one very large high school, one very scared sophomore, and two middle school children. Then came the housing crash …

Within the same school year we found ourselves relocating to another state… after three high school graduates and five grandchildren, my 13th move puts us back where we started… Where I fell in love.

When it’s time for you to relocate, a professional at Nebraska Home Sales can help. As REALTORS® we get to help people relocate, anywhere in the country. I understand what that is all about.
